Tails 4.3 -New Release with Security Update

Tails 4.3 is a new version for Tails a live system that aims to preserve your privacy and anonymity. It helps you to use the Internet anonymously and circumvent censorship almost anywhere you go and on any computer but leaving no trace unless you ask it to explicitly.

It is a complete operating system designed to be used from a USB stick or a DVD independently of the computer’s original operating system. It is Free Software and based on Debian GNU/Linux.

This release fixes many security vulnerabilities so it will be important to update to the latest version which will have:

  • Update Tor Browser to 9.0.5.
  • Update Thunderbird to 68.4.1 -Various improvements now offers IMAP/SMTP if available, better detection for Office 365 accounts This beside security bug fixing.
  • Update Linux to 5.4.13. This should improve the support for newer hardware (graphics, Wi-Fi, etc.).

  • Update the VirtualBox Guest Additions to 6.1.2.

Within this release developers included trezor package, which provides a command line tool to use a Trezor hardware wallet for cryptocurrencies.

When ISPs or governments block access to certain internet and network, Tails may allow users to connect using Tor network and bypass the censored information.
