AD Explorer – Active Directory Explorer

Active Directory (AD) is a Microsoft’s directory service LDAP implementation for Windows NT family of operating systems. Active Directory allows administrators to use group policies to ensure consistent customization of the systems and workstations, deploy software on multiple computers through group policies , install operating system, application and server software updates on all computers on the network using Windows Server Update.

Active Directory stores data and environment settings in a centralized database. Active Directory networks can be of various sizes: from several hundred to several million objects.

AD Explorer also includes the ability to save snapshots of an AD database for off-line viewing and comparisons. When you load a saved snapshot, you can navigate and explore it as you would a live database. If you have two snapshots of an AD database you can use the tool comparison functionality to see what objects, attributes and security permissions changed between them.
